Vom "Virus" Triathlon infiziert

Bei
Triathlon-Bewerben findet man ihren Namen oft ganz vorne in der
Damenwertung.
erst seit zwei Jahren aktiv.
Bürmoos hat dank des Klubs
TriARBÖ in Triathleten-Kreisen einen guten Ruf. Eine der wenigen
"echten" Bürmooserinnen bei dem erfolgreichen Verein ist
Melanie Hager.
Ungezählte Trainingskilometer in
Kurzdistanz etablieren."
Infected
by the triathlon-"virus"
By the triathlon events often
she’s named right in front of the ladies’ score. But Melanie Hager
from Bürmoos is just fifteen years old and she’s triathlete only for
two years.Bürmoos has got
a good reputation in triathlete circles, thanks to the club TriARBÖ. One
of the few "real" athletes from Bürmoos in this club is Melanie
Hager. This fifteen-year-old trained clerical worker continues her family
tradition: Her father has been a needed soccer player for years by SV
Bürmoos and also her thirteen-year-old brother plays soccer with great
enthusiasm. "Mr. Dad" is a big support for Melanie ‘s career.
He is driver, informer during the changes and "general dogsbody"!
Melanie started as triathlon spectator in Bürmoos. There she got quite
excited about this sport: "It fascinated me from the beginning, so I
participated in a children’s triathlon." She reached the second
place and was totally infected by the triathlon-"virus". She
knew her talent from school competitions and because of specific training
the success came soon: Already at her first Austrian championship she
became the second one of the junior-class, although she started for the
schoolgirl group. After an added vice-title last year in Zell am See she
reaches for the first place this year. Her hardest competitor, Irina
Kirchier from Tyrol, defeated her clearly at a sprint-triathlon in
Kirchbichl. Separate detail: there Melanie was the fastest one of the
ladies’ score for the first time, although, in the scramble of the
start, a competitor stepped her into the face.
Another great
performance was showed at the sprint-triathlon in Gmunden in July 1998: In
spite of a flat tyre she reached the second place. A intermediate target
is the participation in the Junior-EM and –WM. "Long-term objective
for me is the participation Olympia 2004, but before this I ant to start
at a World Championship." This are her future dreams. But first there
are scores of training kilometres in all three disciplines. Beneath sports
and her work at DePuy in Bürmoos there is less time for other hobbies.
"Four times a week I have to swim in Rif under my trainer Gudrun
Matzelberger, running and cycling I do mostly on my own, directed by my
trainer Anton Kesselbacher and once a week we train in group." That’s
her ordinary week. Swimming is her favourite discipline. She doesn’t
think about "Ironman"-distances: "First I’ll become
established in Olympic short hauls."
