Dieses Motto wählte sich das Präsidium des
Naturschutzbundes Österreich 1998. Es war dies einer der zahlreichen
Impulse, die auf dem 40. Naturschutztag in Aspach/OÖ verwirklicht wurde.
Das Thema lautete damals "Natur schützen – Kulturlandschaft
bewahren". Umfassender Schutz unserer vielgestaltigen
Kulturlandschaft bedeutet Lebensgrundlage sowohl für den Menschen als
auch für die noch vielfältige Pflanzen- und Tierwelt. Eine ganze Reihe
von Partnern beteiligte sich an dieser Heckenaktion: von den Ministerien
(Umwelt, Landwirtschaft) angefangen über Agrarbehörden, Land- und
Forstwirtschaftskammern, Jagdverbände bis zu kleinen Initiativgruppen
u.v.a.m. Vor einem Jahr wurde dann noch österreichweit ein
Gemeindewettbewerb gestartet, bei dem die "heckenfreundlichste
Gemeinde" gesucht wurde. Vom 10. – 11. September 99 fand im Land-
und Seeschloß Ort/Gmunden zum Abschluß der Aktion ein Heckenfest statt,
bei dem u.a. auch die Sieger mit der "Goldenen Hagebutte"
ausgezeichnet wurden. Die stolze Bilanz der Aktion waren mehr als 650 km
Hecke – eine Länge vom Bodensee bis zum Neusiedlersee. 330 Gemeinden
nahmen an dem Wettbewerb teil, 720 Projekte wurden eingereicht.
Bundessieger wurde die kleine oberösterreichische Gemeinde Zell am
Pettenfirst. Das malerische Dorf liegt am Südhang des Hausruckwaldes.
Mit Abstand die meisten Heckenkilometer erreichte das Bundesland Niederösterrich mit 357 km, gefolgt von der Steiermark mit 112 km und Oberösterreich mit 105 km. Alles in allem also Grund genug zu feiern. In einem sehr eindrucksvollen Rahmen, bei besten Wetterbedingungen fand das Heckenfest im Schloß Ort am Traunsee statt. Univ. Doz. Dr. Johannes Gepp – Leiter des Instituts für Naturschutz und Landschaftspflege in Graz – erläuterte an Hand einer Multivisionsschau die vielfältige Bedeutung der Hecke und die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten bzw. Arten von Hecken, Kleinlebensräume mit unglaublicher Artenvielfalt und mit starker Beeinflußung des Umfeldes. Es seien nur ein paar Punkte herausgegriffen: Windschutz, Schattenspender, Filterwirkung, Sichtschutz, Begrenzung, ... Die Bundesgeschäftsführerin des Naturschutzbundes und Initiatorin Mag. Birgit Mair-Makart stellte den Verlauf, die Motivation und das stolze Ergebnis der Aktion vor. Der Präsident des Naturschutzbundes Österreich strich besonders das bedeutungsvolle Engagement der Jägerschaft heraus und knüpfte daran die Hoffnung, daß auch anderenorts der gemeinsame Weg von Jägern und Naturschützern, wie er hier beispielhaft vorgezeigt wurde, Folgewirkungen habe. Vor der Preisverleihung wurden mit einigen aussagekräftigen Dias die Siegerprojekte vorgestellt; einige Sonderpreise für Privatinitiativen konnten auch noch vergeben werden.
This was the slogan of the Präsidium of the "Austrian nature conservation" for 1998. This was one of the countless impulses, which turned out to be reality on the 40st day of nature conservation in Aspach/upper Austria. Those days the subject was " protect nature – preserve culture countryside". Extensive protection of our culture countryside means basis of life for human beings as well as for our – still rich – flora and animal world. A whole lot of partners participated at this hedge-action. Starting with all the ministries (environment, agriculture) and all the authorities for agriculture, hunting, forest and all the small groups of initiators. One year ago they also started an action throughout Austria searching for the most hedge-friendliest local authority. To close this action there was a hedge-feast taking place from 10 – 11 September 1999 at the castle Gmunden. On this occasion they also presented the winner of the "golden rose hip". The result of this action was more than 650 km of hedge – this is a length from Bodensee to Neusiedlersee. 330 local authorities took part at this action and there were applications for 720 projects. Federal winner was a small village Zell am Pettenfirst. It is an artistic village in the south of the Hausruck-woods. The most amount of hedge-km had the lower Austria with 357km followed by Styria with 112km and Upper Austria with 105 km. Reason enough to celebrate this. In a very impressive
frame and with best of weather conditions the hedge feast took place at
the castle ORT at the Traunsee. Univ.Doz.Dr. Johannes Gepp – manager of
the institute for nature conservation and agricultural care in Graz
explained via Multivision-show the meaning of a hedge and all the
different possibilities and different sort of hedges, the small living
spaces with its unbelievable amount of flora and fauna and its influence
to the environment/surroundings. Just to point out some of the topics:
wind protection, protection for sight, filter- and shadow donators,
bording......The managing director of the nature conservation authority,
Mag. Birgit Mai-Makart presented the schedule, the motivation and the
fantastic result of this action. The president of the Austrian nature
conservation authority pointed out the outstanding engagement of the
huntsmen and expressed that he hopes that also other authorities and
countries will take this action as an example. All the winner projects
were introduces with dias and some special awards for private initiatives
have also been given away. |
